Can GM do 3d anaglyph? Sure but why even bother?!!??

So I go my anaglyph glasses yesterday, and first thing I did was try to locate some anaglyph scripts I saw a few years back on the gmc. Failing that, I did what every man would with this new fandangle thingamajig and tried to locate 3d porn. Failing that, I got on youtube and watch 3d clips all night. All the time thinking it would be great to make a GM anaglyph game (or find 3d porn). So I tweaked my own code, changed a game I had to use multiple views, changing the angle and color for both view renders... Got some <little> succes and then went on youtube again, (after trying in vain to find 3d porn of course).

So I figure I should check out how many 3d games do have anaglyph and I hit a few vid of games I have, and started them up. I could not find the setting in the game so I went back to the vids and I finally clued in from the comments that those 3d renders are NOT in game but in the driver itself!!!

the driver is located here

http://www.iz3d.com/

Basically, it just uses the 3d info sent to directX or OpenGL and make the anaglyph for the game!!! And it works for GM games Hooray!!!
It supports all kinds of 3d depth methods (including mirrors LOL)

The way it works is you install the driver. The sw detects when you go into 3d mode in directX and OpenGL and start the initial setup for the game. Then you are set to enjoy pure blissful 3d!!! For all your game!!! Including GM!!!!

I'm drooling (more than any 3d porn I would have found I imagine LOL).

The result is very good, I found little to no color mangling (using red cyan glases) which is pretty good! And only tiny color ghosting on my 79c glasses. Better results than most 3d clips on youtube

So get your olde 3d anaglyph glasses out of your tinker box, put them on and enjoy REAL 3D games. The future is indeed good!

Re: Can GM do 3d anaglyph? Sure but why even bother?!!??

I've used that driver, it works really well and has some good features for tweaking it. I played Half-Life 2 with it for a few sessions and loved it. I wasn't totally happy with color reproduction or monochrome modes, and my GPU barely handles Half-Life 2 as it is, so I switched back to normal.

TrackMania Nations (free) has an anaglyphic mode that is lots of fun.

I don't think I ever tried the driver with GM, but before I found that driver I did spend some time trying to do anaglyphic d3d. I ended up having to capture a background image for one of the eye views, and then compositing it after the second eye render. It was ghastly slow. The "surface fix" would solve that. I've see some other examples which attempt to bypass the buffering of one of the views, but they look like garbage despite the authors' claims.

Not exactly porn (definitely art, in my book), but because I'm such a huge Bettie Page fan:

Amazing the first thing we want to do is see if it make orm better wink by lets not got there any further.

Yeah, it was you topic I think I was hunting down. But no more. the driver does the job.

The only real way to do it is to have each object draw twice... Which involved changing the camera position twice per object + 2 draw... because using views of even surface(s), you still have the problem of having stuff belonging behind drawing in front of stuff near... Also the dran drawing order is also a pain.

Just changing the x,y,zto does the job, Same for changing the x,y,zfrom. the first though results in a depth adjustment, where things closest to you are at the screen and furtest are deep in the screen. The second method makes furthest things at the screen and closer things out of the screen. A combination of both methods has to be applied, but the first is usually what you need.

I'm fealing queazy now playing audiosurf.
